James Anderson Set to Become England’s Fast-Bowling Mentor Post-Retirement

James Anderson is set to join the England coaching team as a fast-bowling mentor following his retirement from Test cricket after the match against the West Indies at Lord’s next week.

The 41-year-old, who holds the record as the most successful fast bowler in Test cricket history, will conclude his international playing career after being informed by England that they are looking to move forward without him.

However, Rob Key, England’s managing director, expressed: “He has an immense amount to contribute to English cricket. We don’t want to lose that.”

“When we approached him, he was enthusiastic. He will have numerous opportunities. English cricket would be fortunate if he decides to remain involved in the sport.”

Currently, Anderson, with 700 Test wickets to his name, is playing for Lancashire in the County Championship match against Nottinghamshire at Southport.

He has not yet made a decision regarding his future with Lancashire, but Key mentioned that Anderson will be with the England team throughout the summer.

“What he decides regarding Lancashire will likely be resolved after the Lord’s Test,” Key added.

“We need to have discussions afterwards to determine what he believes is the best course of action. Up until now, his focus has been on preparing for this Test match.”
