Joe Weatherley Extends Contract

Hampshire batter Joe Weatherley has committed to staying at the Utilita Bowl until at least 2025, having signed a new one-year contract extension.

The 27-year-old, born in Winchester, debuted for Hampshire in 2016 and has since accumulated 5,031 runs across all formats. Weatherley shared his excitement with the club, stating that signing the extension felt incredible, and that Hampshire has always felt like home to him. He reminisced about the first time he wore the Hampshire jersey at the age of nine and expressed his eagerness for the upcoming season.

Weatherley has made a strong impact for Hampshire, particularly in T20 cricket. In 2022, he was instrumental in the Hawks' third T20 Blast victory, contributing 347 runs. He followed this up with another impressive season in 2023, scoring 379 runs at an average of 42, helping Hampshire reach their third consecutive Finals Day.

Hampshire’s director of cricket, Giles White, expressed his pleasure with Weatherley’s contract renewal, noting that Joe has been a key player in the squad and has consistently performed well in the T20 middle order over the years.
