Kathryn Bryce to Lead Scotland

Kathryn Bryce will captain Scotland's national team, with her sister, Sarah Bryce, serving as vice-captain and wicketkeeper, for the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup 2024 in the UAE.

This tournament marks Scotland's first appearance at the Women's T20 World Cup, and their squad is filled with versatile players. Alongside Kathryn, the team includes all-rounders Priyanaz Chatterji, Katherine Fraser, and Megan McColl.

Head coach Craig Wallace praised the squad's composition, noting, "The balance and depth of this squad are exceptional. We have match-winners throughout, which reflects the progress made during my time here. Each player has delivered key performances consistently, which is evident across the entire squad." Scotland earned their spot in the World Cup by finishing as runners-up to Sri Lanka in the qualifying tournament, also held in the UAE earlier this year. In preparation for the T20 World Cup, Scotland showcased their strength in the Netherlands, where they participated in a tri-series against the hosts and Papua New Guinea.

Reflecting on the recent performances, Wallace highlighted Scotland's success in the Netherlands series, where they won five out of six games. He ehighlighted the depth of the squad, saying, "We now have a strong wider group, as shown by the performances of those who weren't selected but have been pushing hard all year. It was a positive challenge to make final selections based on the quality work everyone has put in."

Thirteen of the 15 players from Scotland's qualifying squad have been retained for the T20 World Cup. Offspinner Olivia Bell and former captain Abbi Aitken-Drummond, who both impressed in the Netherlands, have also been included.

Scotland is placed in Group B alongside England, Bangladesh, South Africa, and West Indies. The team will travel to the UAE in mid-September for a training camp, followed by warm-up matches against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Scotland's first match in the T20 World Cup is scheduled against Bangladesh on October 3.
