Lancashire appoints former Ireland captain William Porterfield to coaching staff
Lancashire has hired William Porterfield, former captain of Ireland, to join Dale Benkenstein's coaching team at Old Trafford.
The 39-year-old previously worked with Benkenstein at Gloucestershire, the county where he began his career as a coach. After retiring as a player, Porterfield transitioned into coaching in 2022 and spent two seasons working under Benkenstein at Bristol:
"I'm really pleased that Will has been able to join me at Emirates Old Trafford ahead of the new season and look forward to continuing our working relationship. Will and I worked together for two years in Bristol and I think that he will add real skill and experience to our coaching staff here at Lancashire, both from his playing days and first steps into coaching.”
His appointment follows the departure of assistant head coach Carl Crowe from the club on Monday.
