England's advance was confirmed following Australia's victory over Scotland in St Lucia. England further solidified their position by defeating Namibia, surpassing Scotland on net run-rate. Australia ensured their Super 8s place early, winning their first three matches. As a result, Scotland, Namibia, and Oman did not make it to the next stage.

Afghanistan moved into the Super 8s by winning against Papua New Guinea. Co-hosts West Indies secured their position with a game to spare after defeating New Zealand. Consequently, New Zealand, Uganda, and Papua New Guinea were eliminated.
Group D
South Africa advanced to the Super 8s after their game against Sri Lanka was washed out. Bangladesh joined them by defeating Nepal in their final group match, leading to the elimination of the Netherlands. Additionally, Nepal and Sri Lanka were also eliminated.
Understanding Net Run-Rate (NRR)
Net run-rate (NRR) is a critical metric used to rank teams when they have equal points. Here’s how it's calculated:
Run-Rate
This is the average number of runs a team scores per over during their innings. For example, if a team scores 140 runs in 20 overs, their run-rate is 7 runs per over.
Net Run-Rate
NRR is determined by subtracting the average runs per over scored by the opposition from the average runs per over scored by the team. Thus, a team with a higher NRR has scored faster than their opponents, while a lower NRR indicates slower scoring.
In tournament play, NRR is calculated by taking the total runs scored by the team across all matches, divided by the total number of overs faced, and then subtracting the total runs conceded by the team, divided by the total number of overs bowled. If a team is bowled out before completing their allotted overs, their run-rate is calculated using the maximum overs available (20 overs in this context).
This system allows for an objective comparison of team performance across matches, balancing the runs scored against runs conceded to determine overall efficiency.
