Michael Vaughan's accusations of cheating by India in the fourth Test have sparked controversy
Michael Vaughan has a reputation for making controversial statements. In the ongoing fourth Test between India and England in Ranchi, the former captain accused India of cheating. He commented on Joe Root's dismissal from R Ashwin's delivery.
Root, who scored a century in the first innings, struggled in the second, scoring only 11 runs. Although he was hit on the pads, the on-field umpire rejected India's appeal. Rohit Sharma used the Decision Review System (DRS), resulting in the dismissal of the legendary batter.
Vaughan did not directly comment on the decision but questioned the lack of replays shown for Root's dismissal. This led to accusations of cheating against the host nation and resulted in criticism from fans.
He wrote on X:
“Interested to know why we haven’t seen many replays of the Root dismissal … Surely it’s the main moment of the innings so far so we should be seeing it a lot more … Asking for a friend … #INDvENG”
