Pat Cummins and Wife Becky Announce Baby News
Pat Cummins and his wife Becky have shared the exciting news that they are expecting their second child, nearly three years after welcoming their son, Albie.
The Australian Test cricket captain and Becky took to Instagram on Wednesday to reveal their happy news. They expressed their joy in the post, writing, "We're thrilled to finally share our baby news! We can't wait to meet you and welcome a little more chaos into our lives." The announcement was accompanied by photos of Becky proudly displaying her baby bump, with Albie sweetly placing his hand on her belly.
The couple received a wave of congratulations from friends and family, including fellow cricketers Mitch Marsh, Travis Head’s wife Jessica, Aaron Finch’s wife Amy, Usman Khawaja’s wife Rachel, and Becky’s sister Kara.
When Albie was born in October 2021, Pat and Becky shared a touching video that documented their journey to parenthood. The video began with Becky surprising Pat with the news of her pregnancy, followed by clips showing her growing baby bump, ultrasound scans, and their arrival at the hospital for Albie’s birth. Becky had initially announced her pregnancy with Albie in April 2021 through an Instagram post, where she joyfully shared her excitement about the upcoming addition to their family.
The couple originally planned to get married in April 2021 but had to postpone their wedding due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On what was supposed to be their wedding day, Becky reflected on Instagram about how much their love had grown despite the delay, expressing her happiness and appreciation for Pat.
They eventually tied the knot in July 2022 at the stunning Chateau Du Soleil in Byron Bay. The wedding, which featured their nine-month-old son Albie, was a star-studded event attended by friends, family, and fellow cricketers such as Mitchell Starc, Andrew McDonald, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon and his wife Emma McCarth, and Tim Paine and his wife Bonnie. Comedian Andy Lee and his girlfriend Bec Harding were also among the guests.
Currently, Pat is on a well-deserved break from cricket to rest up for Australia’s upcoming summer, which includes a much-anticipated Test series against India. This two-month hiatus, granted by Cricket Australia, is his first substantial break from the game in nearly two years. Instead of participating in Australia’s white-ball tour of England and Scotland next month, he’ll be preparing for the India series by playing in one-day matches against Pakistan in November.
Pat shared that his focus now is on getting back into peak physical condition after years of intense play. He mentioned that this year’s gap in the schedule had been planned and that his participation in the Indian Premier League and Major League Cricket in the USA was a decision that aligned with his preparation for the summer.
"I'm just recharging after two years of continuous bowling, hoping to be in top form for the first Test," he said, highlighting that his choices regarding playing in different leagues were carefully considered fitting his overall preparation.
