Northern Superchargers climbed into the knockout positions of the Men's Hundred after their match against London Spirit at Headingley was cut short due to rain.

Chasing a target of 111, the Superchargers were well ahead on 64-1 after 44 balls when the downpour halted play, securing a 21-run victory through the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method.

This result propels them to second place on the table, having completed all their group-stage matches. However, their spot in the eliminator depends on the outcomes of other matches. Specifically, they need Southern Brave to lose against Welsh Fire on Wednesday, or for Birmingham Phoenix to fail against Manchester Originals on Thursday.

Match Details

London Spirit, having been sent in to bat, quickly lost openers Michael Pepper and Dan Lawrence to the Superchargers' seam attack. Despite a promising start by Keaton Jennings, who scored 30 off 12 balls, his dismissal by Reece Topley, courtesy of a Pat Brown catch, left the Spirit in trouble. Jennings was the only top-order batter to reach double figures as they crumbled to 62-6, with England's spinner Adil Rashid claiming 3-16.

Veteran all-rounder Ravi Bopara provided some resistance, scoring 31, and along with Liam Dawson, who remained unbeaten on 27, they added 39 runs for the seventh wicket. However, Bopara was bowled by Matty Potts in the penultimate ball of the innings, and Olly Stone was run out on the final delivery, leaving Spirit at a below-par total of 111-8.

In response, Northern Superchargers got off to a strong start, reaching 47-0 before Matt Critchley dismissed Graham Clark (25) with the first ball after the power play, caught by Pepper. Ollie Robinson (13) then joined Matthew Short (25), and the Superchargers appeared to be cruising to victory until rain interrupted the match.
