The Hundred Women's Competition Sees First-Ever Tie
In a tense encounter at Headingley, the Northern Superchargers and Southern Brave played out the first tie in The Hundred women's competition, with both teams scoring 100 runs. The match, which was a repeat of last year's final, ended in a dramatic fashion as Superchargers' batter Kate Cross could only secure two runs off the final ball, needing three for victory.
The Brave, defending champions, struggled to build momentum in their innings, losing wickets regularly and managing just 100-8. Chloe Tryon was the top scorer with 25 runs. The Superchargers appeared to be in control for most of their chase, requiring just 19 runs from the last 20 balls. However, Lauren Bell's impressive performance, which saw her take 4-11, including the vital wicket of Alice Davidson-Richards who scored 27 off 22 balls, turned the game on its head.
Despite the Superchargers' advantage for much of the chase, the Brave might feel more content with the tie, as both teams remain winless in the competition after their opening matches.
