The Lord's Dining Club has been joined by Tom Shepherd, Michelin-starred chef and 2023 Great British Menu finalist

Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) are delighted to reveal that Tom Shepherd will be their next Lord's Dining Club chef.

Lord's Dining Club, which combines the time-honoured traditions of MCC with the innovative cuisine of world-renowned Michelin-starred chefs, recently announced the next chef to cook at the Home of Cricket.

Tom Shepherd has described it as "a dream come true" to open his first restaurant, Upstairs By Tom Shepherd. The restaurant, based in Lichfield, was awarded a Michelin star just four months after opening. It is the first and only restaurant in Staffordshire to receive the accolade. Tom's dishes showcase modern British cuisine, featuring locally-sourced and seasonal produce. His menus subtly incorporate influences from Japan and East Asia.

The Lord's Dining Club offers a one-of-a-kind dining experience in the historic Grade II*-listed Lord's Pavilion. This event brings together some of the world's most revered Michelin-starred chefs and one of the most famous cricket grounds to create an evening of gastronomy in the historic and grand surroundings of the Long Room, in honour of the traditional pairing of food and cricket.

The evening will begin with a sparkling wine reception with a selection of canapés in the Long Room bar. This will be followed by a four-course meal with a matching wine flight exclusively created by the chef. A Q&A session, hosted by a cricketing personality, will explore the chefs' successful careers. The menu that guests will enjoy in the evening will also be discussed.

James De Groot, Chief F&B Officer at MCC, commented that Lord’s Dining Club is one of the most successful and highly sought-after events at Lord’s. Tom will add to the illustrious list of chefs they have worked with as one of the biggest rising stars in the hospitality industry.

Tom Shepherd, Chef-Patron of Michelin-starred Upstairs By Tom Shepherd, said that he is delighted to be welcoming Tom to Lord’s and knows that he will put on a fantastic event. I am pleased to host an event in the Long Room at Lords. This iconic location is full of history and cricketing folklore.

Tom has had the privilege of working in some of the UK's finest kitchens, having worked in the industry for over a decade. He was Sous Chef at The Samling in 2013, when it received its first Michelin Star, in addition to his work at Sat Bains and The Latymer. Tom then became Head Chef at Adam's. He successfully maintained the restaurant's Michelin Star and three AA Rosettes for over two years.

Tom Shepherd's event comes a few months after Aktar Islam's event on 27 February. Lord's Dining Club continues to showcase the thriving Midlands food scene, recently boosted by the news that Aktar's restaurant, Opheem, received its second Michelin star.
