To keep in touch with County Championship leaders Surrey, Somerset and Essex win

In Division One, Somerset and Essex are leading the chase group.

Following their victory in the most recent round of competition, Somerset and Essex maintained contact with Surrey, the leaders of Vitality County Championship Division One.

At Taunton, Somerset defeated Kent by eight wickets, with Matt Renshaw leading the way.

Somerset won with a dominant chase of 189 thanks to an unbeaten 82 from Renshaw and a 73 not out from Andrew Umeed. Somerset collected a maximum of 24 points to close the gap on the leaders to 18 points.

With the assistance of Grant Stewart's 37, Joe Denly had previously moved Kent's second innings total above 500 with 67 off 129 balls.

Thanks to Jordan Cox and Matt Critchley, Essex defeated Warwickshire in Chelmsford by successfully chasing a target of 338.

Against Warwickshire, Cox scored 112 and Critchley finished at 99 not out, creating an Essex record fifth-wicket partnership of 176.

Just before lunch, Simon Harmer hit the winning runs to help Essex win by four wickets and move up to third position, four points behind Somerset.

During the morning session, Hampshire also concluded with a five-wicket victory over Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.

Chasing 169, Hampshire started the day requiring 85 with five wickets remaining, although that was just four when Tom Prest fractured his shoulder fielding on the first day.

However, Hampshire's first victory of the season came from an unbroken partnership of 127 runs between Fletcha Middleton and James Fuller.

George Balderson was Lancashire's standout player as the team defeated Durham by 60 runs at Blackpool, ending the visitors' improbable chance to win.

Durham was chasing 475 to win, but Ollie Robinson's career-best 171 and David Bedingham's century in a fourth-wicket partnership of 216 kept Durham in the game.

However, Durham was reduced from 380 for five to 383 for eight by Balderson's new-ball burst, and he finished the innings with four for 52.

In Division Two, Tom Helm and Jack Davies put up an unbroken 52-run partnership that helped Middlesex defeat Glamorgan at Sophia Gardens by two wickets.

It ensured that Middlesex, trapped on the back foot by a brilliant spell of bowling from Mason Crane, achieved their victory goal of 213.

Before Helm and Davies pulled Middlesex over the finish line, Crane ignited a collapse in which four wickets fell for 15 runs; he concluded with figures of five for 99.

Anuj Dal frustrated Northamptonshire, as they had to settle with a draw against Derbyshire.

When Derbyshire collapsed to 149 for seven in pursuit of an unlikely 371 to win, the visitors were headed for their first victory of the season at tea. However, Dal's undefeated 31 from 139 balls prevented them.

With a stand of 108 in 32 overs with Dal, Rob Keogh claimed five wickets for 62 with his off-spin, but Derbyshire managed to close on 261 for nine thanks in large part to the efforts of Zak Chappell.

After being asked to continue their match against Gloucestershire at Grace Road, Leicestershire managed to secure a hard-fought draw thanks to half-centuries from Rishi Patel, Lewis Hill, Peter Handscomb, and Rehan Ahmed.
